LIMA — The Wapakoneta wrestling team just kept on rolling on Thursday night as they travelled to Shawnee and defeated the Indians in convincing fashion, 61-18. It was their sixth straight win in dual meets and ran their Western Buckeye League dual meet record to 3-1.
The Redskins notched seven pins and two decisions during the 11 matches they wrestled, a number that pleased head coach Jason Rostorfer.
“If you get seven pins out of 14 weight classes, the worst you can do is tie,” said the Wapakoneta mentor. “Of course we stress getting pins…and conversely not getting pinned and giving up six points. This is the time of year when we start talking about getting bonus points (pins, major decisions, tech falls). At this point it still looks like we’re having a postseason so we have to start thinking about tournament strategy.”
