CANTON — The contingent from Wapakoneta competed in the Division II state swim meet on Thursday afternoon at the C.T. Branin Natatorium. All events were finals, with no preliminaries held due to COVID-19 protocols.
The Redskins 200 freestyle relay team of Cameron Reichenbach, Alex Honigford, Luke Wierwille and Nate Metzger took second place with a time of 1:28.59.
The Redskins were sixth in the 400 free relay, with the same group as the 200 free. Their time was 3:15.98,
In the 200 medley relay, Reichenbach, Grant Honigford, Gavin Sutton and Owen Becker finished 14th with a time of 1:40.36.
In the individual races, Alex Honigford earned a fourth-place finish in the 50 yard freestyle. He had a time of 21.49 seconds. Reichenbach finished 22nd with a time of 22.46 seconds.
In the 100 yard freestyle, Honigford placed 10th with a time of 47.63. Also in the event was Metzger, who finished 22nd (48.93).
Metzger had also qualified for the 200 freestyle. He finished 20th in that event with a time of 1:47.96.
The Redskins finished with 88 points to claim eighth place in the team standings.
