TROY — The Botkins boys finished as the runners-up at the OHSAA Division III Region 12 Championships on Saturday at Troy High School.

Fort Loramie claimed the regional team title by a 54-75 margin over Botkins. The rest of the field included Mechanicsburg (117 points), Anna (137), Summit Country Day (138), Dayton Christian (149), Cedarville (151), Russia (158), Legacy Christian (227), Houston (243), Miami Valley Chistian (260), Cincinnati Seven Hills (300) and Cincinnati Country Day (339). Ansonia, Covington, Cincinnati Christian, Cincinnati Hill Christian, Georgetown, Jackson Center, Miami East, Newton, Springfield Emmanuel Christian, Triad and Williamsburg did not have complete teams.

The top four teams and runners who finished among the top 16 advanced to the OHSAA Division III Boys Cross Country State Championships, which will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fortress Obetz in Obetz.

Anna’s Hayden Schmidt was the regional medalists in 16 minutes, 32 seconds, while Cincinnati Christian’s Garrett Hesselgesser was the runner-up in 16:56.

Keaton Schnippel led the Trojans by placing 10th in 17:42. Other Botkins competitors included Parker Schnippel (13th in 17:49), Carter Pleiman (18th in 18:04), Shane Weatherhead (25th in 18:21.2), Grant Flora (30th in 18:28), Carson Brown (31st in 18:28.7) and Cole Steinke (80th in 19:41).

Division III Region 12 Girls

TROY — Botkins placed eighth in the team standings at the OHSAA Division III Region 12 Championships on Saturday at Troy High School.

The top four teams and runners who finished among the top 16 advanced to the OHSAA Division III Girls Cross Country State Championships, which will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at Fortress Obetz in Obetz.

Region 12 runner-up Brittany Arnold led the Trojans in 19:51. She advanced to the state meet as an individual competitor.

West Liberty-Salem’s Megan Adams was the Region 12 medalist in 19:09.

Other Botkins runners included Alaina Mann (33rd in 22:01), Grace Gutman (58th in 23:20), Malanie Maurer (68th in 23:48), Ava Egbert (70th in 23:53), Alaina Jutte (71st in 24:01) and Alivia Free (82nd in 26:09).

West Liberty-Salem edged Fort Loramie 60-66 for the Region 12 team title. The rest of the field included Madeira (85), Anna (113), Versailles (113), Arcanum (155), Summit Country Day (182), Botkins (189), Cedarville (228), Georgetown (252) and Cincinnati Seven Hills (294). Cincinnati Christian, Cincinnati Hills Christian, Covington, Dayton Christian, East Clinton, Miami East, Miami Valley, Mississinawa Valley, Newton, Williamsburg and Yellow Springs did not have complete teams.

Division III

Region 10 Girls

TIFFIN — Waynesfield-Goshen’s Taylor Spencer placed 15th in 19:58 at the OHSAA Division I Region 10 Championships on Saturday at Hedges Boyer Park.

She advanced to the OHSAA Division III State Championships.

The top seven teams and runners who finished among the top 28 advanced to the OHSAA Division III Girls Cross Country State Championships, which will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at Fortress Obetz in Obetz.

Division I

Region 2 Boys

TIFFIN — Wapakoneta’s Axton Fosnaugh placed 37th in 18:03 at the OHSAA Division I Region 2 Championships on Saturday at Hedges Boyer Park.

The top two teams and runners who finished among the top eight advanced to the OHSAA Division I Boys Cross Country State Championships, which will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday at Fortress Obetz in Obetz.
