Wapakoneta took the court on Thursday, and gritted out a 40-36 victory over Elida in Western Buckeye League play at the Elida Fieldhouse.

The game was close throughout, with Elida up after one quarter and Wapakoneta in front at halftime. In both cases, the margin was just two points.

Wapakoneta took the lead in the third quarter before Elida rallied to go in front by the start of the fourth. The Lady Redskins then handled matters in the home stretch, with a number of trips to the free throws paying dividends. Elida was able to hit a couple 3-pointers to keep it close, but Wapakoneta hung on.

Junior Katie Lisi had 13 points on the night and senior Casey Minnig scored 12.

Wapakoneta (2-4 WBL, 5-9 overall) will host Indian Lake on Monday.
