GIRLS SOCCER: Elida tops Redskins 4-1 in WBL matchup

The Bulldogs would continue their fast start scoring two more goals at the 36:49 and 36:19 mark. 

Wapakoneta coach Mike Foor discussed the fast start for the Bulldogs, “we came out flat and their speed was incredible and we didn’t anticipate that, they had three shots on goal and three went into the back of the net and we found ourselves down.”

Wapakoneta would quickly follow with a Gaby Muller goal at the 32:53 mark in the first half. 

Elida would cap the scoring on the night with a goal at the 23:46 point in the opening half of play.  

Wapakoneta and Eldia would hold with stingy defense and a few missed shots for the remainder of the game. 

Foor would discuss his team clamping down on defense, “we talked at halftime about playing our game and playing the way we can, in the second half we did lots of great things and with a couple of goals here and there it’s game on again and unfortunately we didn’t have any drop.”

The Redskins would have multiple opportunities to make the game closer but simply fell short.  

Muller would miss a penalty kick with 34:54 to play in the opening half. 

The Redskins would also miss three shots on goal which could have put Wapakoneta back into the thick of the match. 

Elida’s first three attempts all reached the back of the net to help give the Bulldogs a huge boost to start the match. 

With the win, Elida moves to 2-3-1 in WBL matches and 7-3-3 in all games. 

The Redskins are now 1-3-2 in WBL play and 3-5-2 overall as they will look to bounce back Thursday at Bath.
