BOTKINS — The Trojans played host to over 20 schools Saturday for the Best in the West Botkins Invitational.Â
Botkins claimed the title Best in the West as both their boys’ and girls’ teams took the top spots. The Redskins placed fourth in boys’ scores and did not qualify for the girls’ score.Â
Between the two schools, Alaina Mann of Botkins had the highest single finish as she placed second with a time of 19:13.00. Brittany Arnold finished third behind Mann giving the Trojans a second top three finish with a time of 19:39.20.Â
Bella Bucio, Grace Gutman and Ava Egbert rounded out the top five finishes for Botkins. Bucio took home a 12th place finish with a time of 21:25.30, Gutman finished directly after with a time of 21:27.70 and a 13th place finish. Egbert came in 26th place as she completed the 5K in 22:25.30.Â
Addyson Kilma (47th), Alaina Jutte (62nd) and Melanie Maurer (64th) all also took part for the Lady Trojans.Â
The Wapakoneta girls would only have three participants meaning they did not qualify for a team score, Mariel Augsburger (27th) finished in 22:29.60 as she led the way for the Lady Redskins. Ashley Elkins (34th) and Lillith Lautzenheiser (39th) rounded out the day for Wapakoneta as Elkins finished in 22:51.20 and Lautzenheiser completed the race with a time of 23:23.10.Â
The Trojan boys were led by Keaton Schnippel’s fifth-place finish in 16:58.20 as Botkins claimed first place as a team.Â
Parker Schnippel finished seventh with a time of 17:03.30, Carson Brown finished eighth in 17:17.40.Â
Collin Doseck and Carter Pleiman rounded out the top five, as the pair finished ninth and 10th, with times of 17:27.90 and 17:42.30.Â
Grant Flora (18th), Jacob Grunden (45th), Austin Rogers (54th), Ryan Koenig (58th), Brady Steinke (79th), Jacob Yenser (109th), Christian Denning (120th), Zander Warren (139th), Ethan Gillette (149th), Noah Miller (170th) also participated for the Trojans.Â
The Wapakoneta boys finished fourth as a team, Axton Fosnaugh finished in 16:50.50 with a four-place finish.
Cash Schadl and Hayden Sell finished 12th and 29th overall for the Redskins with Schadl finishing in 17:48.20 and Sell at in18:24.20.Â
Noah Schlosser (53rd) and Crew Allen (66th) rounded out the top five for the Redskins with times of 19:02.30 and 19:14.80.Â
Peyton Moyer (67th), Christian Augsburger (100th), Kolvyn Clausing (107th), Nathan Doll (153rd), Ethan Cope (156th) and Lucas Kline (176th) all took part for the Redskins. Â Â
Both the Redskins and Botkins are set to participate in the Anna Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Anna.Â
