Memorial Day Weekend offers area residents a number of activities to kick off the summer season.
Katelyn Rose is coming home after spending weeks recovering and rehabilitating from a car accident earlier this year. Her motorcade leaves the Auglaize County Fairgrounds today (Thursday) at 6 p.m. You are invited to welcome her home by lining the parade route along West Auglaize Street and Bellefontaine Street from Water Street to the truck stop.
Also today, Fleetwood 2 the Max will perform during the Party in Park, part of the Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce’s summer concert series. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and visit the newly renovated Heritage Park behind town. A food truck will be on site and DORA beverages are allowed as the park space is included in the DORA district.
With eyes to the skies and fingers crossed for a dry evening, Wapakoneta High School’s graduation begins at 8 p.m. Friday at the football field. Rain dates are Saturday and Sunday if needed.
The Farmers’ Market continues Saturday, located in the courthouse parking lot at the corner of Willipie and Pearl streets. Open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the market features produce, baked goods, honey, herbs, coffee and more.
On Monday, Memorial Day, a parade honoring veterans will proceed from Heritage Park through downtown on Auglaize Street. The parade will precede a 1 p.m. memorial ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park at the foot of South Wagner Street.
