Hundreds of people packed the Youth Building at the Auglaize County Fairground when bluegrass bands took the stage after dinner, like Harbourtown, New Outlook, and Lonesome River Band, for Wapakoneta's first Howlin' at the Moon Music Fest.
Putting in a special appearance was Caleb Daugherty, a former member of New Outlook. Daugherty went on to form The Caleb Daugherty Band that combines country and bluegrass. Daugherty performed Conway Twitty's Linda on My Mind, winning over the audience.Â
Another special guest was invited on stage.
"I'm telling you right now he's gonna be on the Grand Ole Opry," said Lori Lambert, organizer and member of New Outlook, introducing 11-year-old Dante. Lambert said she found this young talent when he sent in a video to compete for a scholarship. He joined new Outlook on stage to play Soft Winds of Oklahoma, followed by Blackberry Blossom in a duet with Brad Lambert.Â
Broadcasting live was 95.3 "The Ol' Hippie Bluegrass Show"Â a popular bluegrass radio station.
A second full day of bluegrass music and an Eagles tribute, along with vendors, crafts, kid’s inflatables and activities, and more fall fun will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds.Â
