Zofkie 5th, girls 20th of 27; Boys place 22nd out of 33

Wapakoneta freshman Allie Zofkie placed fifth overall out of 177 runners Saturday in the Galion Cross Country Festival at Amann’s Reservoir Park.

Her finish scored four points for Wapak, as the Redskins took 20th place out 27 teams in the Division I meet, totaling 570 points.

Rounding out of the scoring for Wapak were Nicole King (132nd; 23:13.8), Morgan Miller (145th; 24:10.3), Summer Griner (148th; 24:18.2) and Megan Watt (149th; 24:25.7).

Hannah Davis (155th; 24:57.8) and Sydni Turner (161st; 25:38.4) completed Wapak’s top seven.

In the girls varsity open race, Wapak freshman Emma Walker finished 231st out of 358 runners with a time of 25:41.9.


Boys 22nd of 33

The Wapakoneta Redskins also competed in Galion on Saturday, finishing 22nd overall out of 33 teams in the Division I race with 641 points.

Wapak senior Sam Harrod was first overall for the Redskins, finishing with a time of 17 minutes, 1.6 seconds in 78th place in a field of 227 runners.

Redskins freshman Dylan Plaugher was second for Wapak at 91st overall with a time of 17:11.9.

Will Zofkie posted Wapak’s third sub-18-minute race at 121st overall with a time of 17:33.7.

Hayden Brandehoff (171st; 18:29.9) and Alec Benny (180th; 18:45.0) were Wapak’s final two scorers Saturday.

Jordan Bowers (200th; 19:38.8) and Zac Neumeier (207th; 20:12.7) also ran for Wapak.

The Redskins' next meet will be the Sidney Invitational on Saturday.
