William Doering, 66

William H. “Billy Bob” Doering, 66, of rural Wapakoneta, died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born April 18, 1945, in Lima, the son of Norma (Cook) and Harold Doering, who preceded him in death. On June 24, 1988, he married Sheila Nichols, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Traci Jo (Steve) Winslow, of Wapakoneta, Patti Jo (Tim) Hooper, of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Coral) Stroup, Amber McGeorge, Mitchell William Stroup, Cassi Hooper, Cheyenne Hooper, Savanna Hooper and Rayce Hooper: six great-grandchildren, Riley, Imoen, Zoltan, Charlotte, Madelyn, and Maya; three sisters, Elizabeth Sneed, of Wapakoneta, Marilyn (Robert) Hanna, of Cincinnati, and Shirley (Charles) Robinson, of Mansfield; his favorite mother-in-law, Ruby Nichols, of Wapakoneta; two brothers-in-law, Donnie (Susan) Nichols, of Wapakoneta, Terry (Elaine) Nichols, of Columbus; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Spanky Jo.
A farmer, he retired in 2005 from Tuttle Construction. He had worked previously at Peterson Construction Co. He was presently serving as a Moulton Township Trustee. A 1963 graduate of Buckland High School, he was a member of the Buckland United Church of Christ, the Sons of the American Legion, Post 330 in Wapakoneta, and the Labors Union Local 329 in Lima. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting and his weekly poker games with his buddies. A wonderful husband, he loved his family, his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta, with the Revs. Adrian Sunday and Steven Nelson officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will follow in the Buckland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In tribute to Bill’s life, the family requests friends attend the visitation and services in casual hunting and camo clothing.
