Wapakoneta takes fourth, seventh in relays at state swim meet

CANTON — The second day of competition was held in the Division II state swimming meet on Friday evening.
The Wapakoneta 200 freestyle relay team of Danilo Martinelli, Alex Honigford, Nate Miller and Nate Metzger finished in fourth place with a time of 1:27.05.
Right behind in fifth was the team from Shawnee (1:28.56).
Indian Hill won the state title with a time of 1:26.02. Chagrin Fals was second (1:26.43), and (Hunting Valley) University School was third (1:27.05).
In the 400 freestyle relay, Wapakoneta finished seventh with a time of 3:16.95. It involved the same four swimmers as the 200 free relay.
University School won the gold with a time of 3:09.56 in that event.
Martinelli also took part in the consolation final of the 50 yard freestyle. He swam a time of 21.92 seconds, which was good for 11th place.
