WAPAKONETA — it was time to Kaeck it up a notch.
Wapakoneta recorded a thrilling 19-13 victory in overtime against rival St. Marys at Harmon Field Friday night.
Senior running back Evan Kaeck capped off a big night with a 3-yard touchdown run for the game winning points. He had set that up with a 15-yard run, and two 1-yard bursts before delighting the home fans and disappointing those in blue and gold.
St. Marys had the ball first in overtime. After two runs, sophomore quarterback Gavin Reineke's pass attempt on third down was snatched by senior defensive back Devin Huelskamp of the Redskins near the goal line.
This was the first game in the rivalry's long history to go to overtime.
