It was worth the trip — and the price of admission.
Wapakoneta trailed for most of the night, but staged a strong fourth-quarter rally to earn a 66-63 win over Bellefontaine in nonleague boys basketball action on Tuesday.
The Redskins, now 2-1 on the season, were down by five after one period. Both teams got hot in the second quarter, with Bellefontaine putting up 27 points, and extending the lead to 10, 44-34.
After an even third period, Wapakoneta finished strong, holding Bellefontaine to just six points in the final eight minutes.
Sophomore Braeden Goulet had 15 points for the Redskins, with senior Reed Merricle getting 14 and junior Noah Ambos scoring 12.
Maverick Calton had a game-high 22 points for Bellefontaine, and Declan Ashcroft added 10.
As a measure of the even nature, every player on both teams that saw action scored at least once.
