Survey: We could be a lot healthier

As part of the Auglaize County Health Department efforts to become accredited, a 2017 county-wide health assessment was taken, the results compiled and an action plan developed to deal with the less than stellar results found in the healthy survey.

Oliver Fisher, Auglaize County Health Department commissioner, said the department is taking proactive measures to improve nutrition, physical health and mental health among county residents.

In one area, the health assessment found 39 percent of adults and 21 percent of youth in Auglaize County are obese; the state average for adult obesity is 30 percent and 13 percent for youth.
