The season is in bloom for local floral shops

Across Auglaize County flower shops have shifted to poinsettias, wreaths, and other holiday items.

Jeanne Meyer, co-owner of Spring Flowers in St. Marys talked about how difficult it has become for retailers to prepare for the holiday season.

With the exception of plants, It has gotten to the point where you have to plan months ahead of the season.

“If you want to make sure you get your stuff for Christmas, you have to order in January,” Meyer said. Even then, sometimes items aren’t guaranteed. “If something doesn’t sell enough (through) preorders you won’t get it; you better not count on anything.”
