The Wapakoneta Redskins suffered their first defeat of 2019 on Friday, falling 13-10 to Kenton in a Western Buckeye League game at Harmon Field.
The game was delayed shortly after kickoff due to lightning. When play resumed, Wapakoneta built a 10-0 lead. Kenton scored just before halftime to make it a 3-point game.
The defenses kept things tight in the second half. A score late in the third put Kenton ahead, and Wapakoneta's offense was unable to respond with points of their own.
The Redskins are now 4-1 on the year, and 3-1 in the WBL. Kenton is 4-0 in league action and 4-1 overall. Kenton and Ottawa-Glandorf, which defeated Van Wert 35-28 in overtime, are now tied for first place.
