Balanced offense and solid defense added up to a quick day.
Wapakoneta recorded a 10-0 win over visiting Kenton in Western Buckeye League softball play on Tuesday.
The game ended on an emphatic note, with freshman Katie Lisi driving a ball to the outfield fence, then never slowing down, going all the way for an inside the park home run. She also had a triple and a walk.
Starting pitcher Alex Daum had three hits and a sac fly, driving in three of the Lady Redskins' runs.
Maddi Doseck and Tianna Thompson each had a double, with two RBIs for Thompson and one for Doseck.
Allie Wilson had three hits as did freshman Addy Allen. Allen drove in one run.
Daum pitched four innings to earn the win, allowing just three baserunners for Kenton. She had three strikeouts.
Taylor West threw one inning of relief, striking out one.
Coach Bill Sammons of Wapakoneta said, "Our defense has come so far in the last two or three games. The girls are playing well. They're getting into their roles and relaxing when they play."
He said that Daum is doing well keeping batters off-targer and getting ahead in the count.
Sammons praised the ability of younger players like Allen and Lisi to step up and contribute. "The camaraderie is really tight," he said.
Wapakoneta is now 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the WBL.
