Gala plans set; tickets on sale Friday

Tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. Friday morning for the 2019 Committee’s fundraising gala dinner that is being held to coincide with the release of the movie “First Man.”

“First Man” is an upcoming American biographical drama directed by Damien Chazelle and written by Josh Singer, based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James R. Hansen. The film stars Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong, alongside Claire Foy, Corey Stoll, Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke, Shea Whigham, and Christopher Abbott, and depicts the years leading up to the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. Steven Spielberg serves as an executive producer.

It had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 29. It is scheduled for release in the United States on October 12, by Universal Pictures. It opens at the Wapa Theatre on Oct. 11 with an 8:15 p.m. showing.
