David A. Herron, 81

David A. Herron, 81, of Wapakoneta, went home to be with the Lord, at 12:59 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, following a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 25, 1932, in Wabash, Ind., the son of Merle Maurice & Alice (Agle) Herron, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 10, 1960, he married Lou Emma Brown, and she survives.
Other survivors include, four children, Jeff (Susie) Herron, of Lima, Lisa (Jim) Moore, of Bellefontaine, Natalie (Lon) McDermitt, of Wapakoneta, Angie (Steve) Schneider, of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; four siblings, Rosalyn (Bill) Strahm, of Pine Island, Fla., Maurice (Ruth) Herron, of Ansonia, Frank (Lois) Herron, of Celina, Amanda (Churck) Ford, of Salem, Ala.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Herron.
Dave retired from Minster Machine Co. Prior to that, he worked at Clark Equipment, Lima, and also had operated heavy equipment. Dave, along with his wife Lou, owned and operated Herron’s Herb Shoppe. He was a member of the Wapakoneta Community Worship Center and served on the church board. A 1949 graduate of Blume High School, he served in the Ohio National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, raising fancy chickens, but most of all he dearly loved his family.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday at the Wapakoneta Community Worship Center, Pastor Dan Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Saturday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the service, Sunday at the church.
