Cheer squad plans fundraising auction

When Misty Matthews said yes to advising the recently revived Wapak Warriors cheerleading squad she knew she faced a couple of challenges. With one year under her belt she knows now what she needs to make the second year even better than the first — and she’s working to raise the funds to make that happen.

Matthews has organized a Quarter Auction for Saturday at the E-Z Campgrounds and Diner at the intersection of U.S. 33 and Townline-Kossuth Road. She said the monies raised will help pay for uniforms, a potential field trip and the end-of-season banquet and awards.

“When I was asked to take (the cheerleading squad) over, there was no squad,” Matthews said. “The cheerleading part had kind of faded away.”
