Board honored during recognition month

The Wapakoneta City School District Board of Education met for their first regular meeting of 2018 on Tuesday evening.

In what turned out to be a brief meeting, Superintendent Keith Horner recognized the Board Members as part of National School Board Recognition Month.

“Over the years, I’ve had board members describe it as the most frustrating, rewarding thing they’ve ever done,” Horner said. “That’s stuck with me through the years.”

“You don’t get people coming up and thanking you very often,” he added, “but your job is vitally important to our community, to our teachers, and most importantly, our students.”

The meeting also served as the first regular meeting for two newcomers, Gregg Ruppert and Brian Cossel, who were elected to the Board in November, replacing Brent Schwartz and William Sammetinger.
