Marilynne J. Schroer, 85, formerly of 2208 Kensington Drive, Saint Marys, and a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Otterbein Saint Marys. She was born April 4, 1928, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of L.E. and Bernice (Kohler) Brandt. She married Elvin “Gene” Schroer on May 9, 1948, at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wapakoneta and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1998.
She is survived by her two children, Chris (Georgiana) Schroer of Saint Marys and Cindy (Jack) Miley of Celina; three grandchildren, Sara (Joshua) Watson, Elvin (Lisa) Schroer and Jason (Tracy) Miley, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers, William, Robert and Thomas Brandt.
Marilynne was a 1946 graduate of Blume High School. She attended Bowling Green State University. She was a farm wife and a member of Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ in Saint Marys, where she was a longtime choir member and Sunday school teacher. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, with the Reverend Dr. Ed Bray as officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be given to either Grand Lake Hospice or Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ. Friends may also call one hour prior to the funeral rites on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
