Jerome F. “Jerry” Zink, 79, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:25 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Wapakoneta Manor. He was born on Sept. 5, 1934, in Duchouquet Township., Auglaize County, the son of Adolph and Anna (Bustetter) Zink, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include, a brother, Paul Zink, of Wapakoneta; seven nieces and nephews, Georgianna Zink, of Wapakoneta, Patricia (Garry) Wooley, of Wapakoneta, M. Jane Wheelock, of West Milton, John (Penny) Zink, of Wapakoneta, Paul D. (Diane) Zink, of Wapakoneta, Debra (Randy) Marsh and Benny Newman, both of Ellsworth, Mich.; numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Zink, Rosemary Newman and Sister Helen Marie.
Jerry was owner and operator of Jerry’s TV & Radio, in Wapakoneta. He also worked as a bartender at Wapakoneta Eagles. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Wapakoneta, and the K of C, Council #1272. A 1952 graduate of St. Joseph High School, he also graduated from Radio Electronic Television School (RETS), in Detroit, Mich. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #691, in Wapakoneta. He enjoyed gardening, camping and traveling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W., Post #8445. The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501,
