Hugh Morris, 80, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:35 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at his residence. He was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Jackson, Ky., the son of John B. & Martha (Raleigh) Morris, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 9, 1954, he married Molly Bernice Fortner, and she survives.

A daughter, Gwynne (Dr. Thomas) Freytag, Wapakoneta, two grandchildren, Brandon Thomas (Stacey) Freytag, Troy, and Jessica Renee Freytag, Wapakoneta, a great grandson, Andrew Thomas Freytag, two sisters, Lillie Spicer, Kettering and Golden Chenoweth, Dayton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six siblings, Katherine Haddix, Levi Morris, J.G. Morris, Violet Mae Shouse,
Ova Morris & Mary Morris.
Hugh worked as a truck driver at REA Express and later at ABF Freight Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
His memberships included the Hamer Lodge, #167 Free and Accepted Masons; the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton; the Antioch Shrine; the Aug-Mer Shrine Club; the V.F.W. Post #8445, Wapakoneta; and the D.A.V. Auglaize Co. Chapter #73.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta, Pastor Becky Sunday officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. at the funeral home after the funeral. Burial is to follow in the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home, where a D.A.V. memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m., and a masonic memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday.
