Many local runners faced the snowy weather to participate in the first annual “Hot Chocolate 5K” on Saturday, and they were rewarded after they made it to the finish line.
“The Y has done other versions of 5Ks and runs,” Wapakoneta YMCA Director Josh Little said. “It’s a unique event — it’s exciting for Sertoma Club to partner with the Y.”
The Wapakoneta Sertoma Club is dedicated to community service for hearing and vision.
Little said the two organizations came
together to think of a fun, unique way for locals to enjoy a run in the winter.
“Since it’s cold after a run, we thought it might be nice to have a cup of hot chocolate,” Little said. “It was a nice way to warm up.”
