Arthur “Art” Helmlinger, 67, died at 3:33 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, in the emergency room at Lima Memorial Health System.
Art was born Oct. 7, 1946, in Lima to Raymond M. & Thelma T. (Martin) Helmlinger. On March 11, 1967 in Defiance, he married Janet L. Rolston, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, David (Angela) Helmlinger, Wapakoneta; two daughters, Amy Jackson, Elida, Beth (Steven) Crouch, Cridersville; three brothers, James “Jim” (Jeannie) Sutton, Ala., Dennis Sutton, Cridersville, Dale (Sue) Sutton, St.Marys; three sisters, Carolyn Berry, Cridersville, Sharon (Carl) Vandemark, Elida, Mary (Edward) Fisher, Wapakoneta; 12 grandchildren, Brian, Kiristen, Zackary, Delaney, Savannah, Kyle, Ragan, Morgen, Chase, adyson, Brionna, and Makenna.
He was preceded by his Mother and Father; his step-mother Betty J. (Shields) Helmlinger; two infant grandchildren; a brother, Charles “Chuck” Sutton; and sister, Betty “Penny” Ward.
Art retired from Wester nand Southern Insurance Company, was a U.S. Army Veteran and had attended Wapakoneta High School and North West Business College. He was a member of the American Legion and Wapakoneta Eagles. He loved playing cards, hunting, fishing, and singing karaoke. Art was an avid OSU Buckeye’s Fan and Cleveland Browns Fan.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield, with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Uniopolis, with full military rites.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
