Gaynell Mae Market, 94, of Wapakoneta, died at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 16, 1918, in St. Marys, to Ilo (Sherman) and Ernest Barber, who preceded her in death.
Gaynell lived in the town of Wapakoneta until her marriage to Norman Market in 1938, when they moved to the farm that had belonged to Norman’s grandfather. Gaynell spent her entire adult life on that farm just outside of town in Duchouquet Township. She was preceded in death by a brother, Neil; her husband Norman Market; her daughter Sylvia Jean; and a great-grandchild.
Surviving are a sister, Marion, of New Mexico; a daughter, Alicia Market (Larry) Winget, of Michigan; five grandchildren, Joe (Kathy) Winget, Adelicia (Joe) Tignanelli, Matt (Christie) Winget, Gwendolyn (Frank) Cameron and Annalisa (Michael) Toth; 19 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
A 1937 graduate of Blume High School, Gaynell worked for a time at the Leader Store in Lima. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Wapakoneta. She enjoyed gardening and had a life-long passion for books. She was able to remain in her home where she died peacefully with her daughter at her side.
Funeral services are to be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Visitation is to be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
