David M. McCool, 71, of Lima, formerly of Delphos and Wapakoneta, died at 4:35 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Springview Manor in Lima.
He was born March 30, 1941, in Detroit, the son of Lena (Kepley) and Delmar McCool, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 14, 1963, he married Lorene Bayes, and they were happily married until her death on Jan. 12, 1983.
Surviving are two daughters, Candace McCool (Adam) Gill, of Sheffield Lake, and Susan McCool, of Lorain; two grandchildren, Rowan Gill and Maeve Gill; four brothers, Gary (Marilyn) McCool, of Delaware, Terry (Sandy) McCool, of Hermann, Mo., Jon (Deb) McCool, of Springfield, and Robert (Nancy) McCool, of Ada; a sister, Donna (James) Hern, of St. Johns; a special friend, Kathy Joseph, of Delphos; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Thomas McCool.
David graduated from Ada High School.
A hair stylist, Dave owned and operated several hair salons in the area. He also worked as a dance instructor with the Arthur Murray Dance Studios. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. A devout Christian, Dave enjoyed dancing, going to car shows, and playing with his grandchildren.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Elaine Mikesell officiating. Burial is to follow in the Schwaberow Cemetery near Kettlersville, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.Tuesday at the funeral home.
