Susan K. “Susie” Hardin, 63, of 11746 Bay Road, Wapakoneta, died 5:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at St. Ritas Medical Center, Lima, following a short battle with cancer.
She was born April 14, 1949, in Mercer County, the daughter of Carol (Lehman) and George Whitehead.
She married Mickael Hardin on April 20, 1968, and he survives at the residence.
She is also survived by her mother, Carol Whitehead of St. Marys; by four children, Jodi (Jeremy) Leonard, of Celina; Kimberly (Dan) Boltz, of Coldwater; Toby (Tracey) Hardin, of Greenfield, Ind.; Shane (and partner Kody Addison) Hardin, of Wapakoneta; by seven grandchildren: Ryan Keeling; Hunter Boltz; Hannah Boltz; Abbie Leonard; Kenzie Hardin; Noah Leonard Ross Hardin; by a brother, Jeffrey Whitehead of Phoenix, Arizona; by her niece, Kristin Whitehead of Phoenix; a nephew, Joshua Whitehead of Phoenix; by her close friends, Kathy Metz; Don “Deke” Shuler; Kerri Masonbrink; Dustin and Jennifer Shonk; Jim and Joyce Miller; Chet and Jill Wyatt. She is survived by her step-mother, Pearl Whitehead, of St. Marys.
She was preceded in death by her father; a granddaughter, Emma Leonard; by her mother in law, Thelma Rupert Hardin; and by her close friend, Paula Burris.
Susie was a 1967 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed doing needlepoint work; she enjoyed fishing and being outdoors; horticulture and horses. She had been a member of the St. Marys Lakettes; she was an avid fan of the Reds, Indians and OSU Buckeyes. She was a great cook and was extremely dedicated to her children and grandchildren.
Over the years, Susie enjoyed raising golden retrievers including Ogie, Rocky, Rusty, Casey, Cody and Storm.
She attended New Start Church of God in Celina.
Funeral rites will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at New Start Church of God, 7729 US Route 127 in Celina, with the Rev. John Mobley, officiant.
Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the church, where memorial gifts may be made to New Start Church of God.
