Douglas J. Baker, 50, of Lima, died at 5:50 p.m. Sept. 26, 2012, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born June 26, 1962, in Lima, the son of Evelyn Irene (Weburg) and Bobby Baker, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 9, 1985, he married Diane L. Knowlton, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Katelynn M. (Jason Sarno) Baker, of Lima, Julie D. Baker, of Lima, and Lindsey D. Baker, of Lima; a sister, Tina (Charley) Gasperetti, of Lima; a mother-in-law, Mary L. Knowlton, of Waynesfield; a brother-in-law, Dan (Julie) Knowlton, of Waynesfield; five nephews, Robbie Gasperetti, Michael Gasperetti, Brian Knowlton, Blake Knowlton, and Jacob Sandusky; and four nieces, Kristen Gasperetti; Kendra (Ryan) Figley, Madison Sandusky, and Nicole Carlos.
He was preceded in death by a father-in-law, William ‘Red’ Knowlton.
Doug was a 1981 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School. He graduated from Heidelberg University in 1985 with a degree in business administration and he played football and lacrosse. He worked for the Marathon Petroleum Corporation and was a member of the St. Gerard Catholic Church, it’s Holy Name Society and participated in Christ Renews His People (CRHP). He coached junior high football at Lima Central Catholic High School. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2661.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lima, with the Rev. Jim Szobonya officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery in Lima.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel.
Rosary services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be given to the Lima Central Catholic Athletic Department or St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lima.
