Joseph D. Henne, 99, of Cridersville, died at 5:12 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born April 23, 1913, in Salem Township, near Kossuth, the son of the late Ethel Richardson and Daniel Henne. On July 31, 1937, he married Evelyn L. Rasneor who died Nov. 2, 2006.
Mr. Henne was a retired welder, engineer, and consultant with Clark Equipment Company, formerly known as Baldwin Lima Hamilton Company. Even after retiring, he traveled around the world as a consultant for the company. He was a lifelong member of the American Welding Society, a member of the Cridersville United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Elk’s Lodge 1170 of Wapakoneta. He was an avid golfer and a former member of the Wapak Country Club. He enjoyed being a councilman for the Village of Cridersville for years.
Surviving are a sister, Donna Mae Fritz, of Wapakoneta; a sister-in-law, Nina Henne, of Cridersville; seven nieces and nephews, Dorothy (Berry) Silver, Joy (Keith) Rohm, Barbara Glass, Bruce Rasneor, Mark Rasneor, Lynda Pruitt, and Clark Rasneor; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Joseph Henne; a brother, Robert Henne; a sister, Opal Wright; and three nephews and nieces, Don E. Wright, Ned Glass, and Shirley Glass McEvoy Kemp.
Services are at noon today at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville, with the Rev. Nola Heilman officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery near St. Mary’s.
