Ruth D. Oehlhof Bowersock, 93, died at 2:35 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2012, in Stuart, Fla.
She was born Sept. 20, 1918, in Spencerville, the daughter of Trilby (Rupert) and George Oehlhof, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 10, 1943, she married Gerald V. Bowersock, who preceded her in death on March 27, 1993.
Surviving are a son, Terry L. Bowersock, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara (Steve) Hartinger Konst, of Hobe Sound, Fla.; six grandchildren, Eric Bowersock, Justin Hartinger, Heather Bowersock Gilman, Wendy Bowersock Marcum, Heidi Bowersock Malone, and Michelle Kramer Duplaga; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice K. Kramer (I. Scott) who died Aug. 14, 1997.
She had worked at the St. Mary’s Woolen Mills and St. Rita’s Medical Center. She also worked at Westinghouse Electric Corporation during World War II and volunteered at the Service Men’s Canteen in Lima.
She was a member of Shawnee Alliance Church. She loved her family and small prayer group. She liked music, crossword puzzles and to read.
She had been a member of the W.C.T.U. (Women’s Christian Temperance Union) and a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary 6772 in Spencerville. She had also belonged to the Keenager Group, The Spencerville Hobby Club, and the Westinghouse Retirees Club.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville, with the Rev. Daniel Mesner officiating. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
