Alma Anna (Feil) Camper, 103, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at The Gardens, Wapakoneta. She was born April 9, 1908, in Auglaize County, the daughter of Anna (Aufderhaar) and William Feil.
A 1925 graduate of Blume High School, she was the last surviving member of her class. After graduating high school, she went to business college and worked as a secretary in Lima.
On Dec. 26, 1926, she married Floyd (Sam) Camper, and he passed away Jan. 23, 1986.
Their marriage brought six children; sons, Robert F. & Joann, William J & Joyce (deceased), and Thomas D. & Nancy (both deceased), and 3 daughters, Sharon A. & Jack (deceased) Campbell, Susan K. & Richard Feil, and infant Fay Janelle Camper, who passed away on Aug. 1, 1927.
Nine grandchildren survive and include, Steve Campbell, Sandra (Chester) Cary, Glen (Lisa) Camper, Richard (Jane) Feil III, Neil (Cheryl) Camper, Judy (Mike) Schaub, Courtenay (John) Halliday, Mike (AJ) Campbell, Eric (Lori) Camper, and Melissa (deceased) (Brad) Conklin.
She is survived by 18 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Alma had two sisters, Lorena Feil Kohler and Lavera Feil Cems, and a brother Vernon Feil, who all preceded her in death.
Alma was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, in Wapakoneta, and its Women’s Guild. She was the oldest living member of the church and was a lifelong member.
She was a member of the Two-Mile Sewing Circle for many years, the senior citizens, and several card clubs.
Alma enjoyed needlework of all kinds, gardening, was an avid reader, and loved to play cards. She taught all her grandchildren to play cards when they visited and sometimes she even let them win!
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Joe Pumphrey officiating.
Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, in Wapakoneta.
The family plans to receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, in Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
