David R. “Norton” Martin, 59, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at his residence.
He was born July 16, 1952, in Lima, to Mary Ann Frank and Clinton C. Martin, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 15, 1974, he married Carole Lyons, who survives in Lima.
Also surviving are three sons, Joseph A. Lyons, of San Antonio, Texas, Christopher P. (Kimberley A.) Martin, of Corona, Calif., and Jerry “JD” Martin, of Findlay; a daughter, Melissa R. (James) Chamberlain, of Wapakoneta; two grandsons, Tyler Stauffer, of Wapakoneta, and Jared Lyons, of California; four brothers, Dan (Linda) Martin, of Wapakoneta, Tony (Lisa) Martin, of Sidney, Harry (Amanda) Martin, of Wapakoneta, and Bill (Sue) Martin, of Findlay; three sisters, Angie (Ralph) Brown, of Wapakoneta, Becky Martin, of Kenton, and Renee (Rodney) Conoway, of Wapakoneta; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
He was a 1970 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He was the owner of C & D Supply, retiring in 1996, and had previously worked for Curtis Industries, in Cleveland. He was a loving husband, father, and a great friend to many people. He loved to spend time outdoors, especially fishing and camping. His favorite past times also included working on projects and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered most for his positive outlook on life and his great sense of humor.
Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Chiles – Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel, with the Rev. Ronald C. Boyer officiating. Interment is to be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
