Kathryn “Kitty” B. Luecke, 92, 120 S. West Street, St. Marys, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Otterbein – St. Marys.
She was born March 3, 1919, in St. Marys Township, Auglaize County, to Mary (White) and Elmer Youngs. On Oct. 18, 1956, in St. Marys, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she married Rodney S. Luecke, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mary (Chris) Beane, of St. Marys, and Jonie (Rick) Kistler, of St. Marys; two grandchildren, John Beane, and Grace Kistler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William Youngs, John Youngs Sr., and Elmer “Bud” Youngs and a sister, Mary Danaher
She was a 1937 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.
She was a homemaker and had also worked as a secretary for the St. Marys Woolen Mills for many years.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and American Legion Post 323 auxiliary (having served as chaplain), both in St. Marys.
An avid bowler, she participated in the Tuesday Nite Ladies League at Varsity Lanes as a member of the Priess Shoes team. She was fond of animals and a loyal supporter of St. Marys Roughriders and The Ohio State University Buckeyes sports programs. She played an active and important role in the lives of her grandchildren and her numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, with the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, in St. Marys.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West), St. Marys.
