Dorothy J. Helmlinger, 96, of Quincy, passed away at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at The Pavilion in Sidney.
She was born July 16, 1915, in Shelby County, the daughter of the late Nina R. (Davis) and William C. Lawhead.
On Aug. 31, 1936, she married Walter Helmlinger and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann (Ralph) Marshall, of New Carlisle, and Sara (Lee) Harbour, of DeGraff; a son, Ron (Judy) Helmlinger, of DeGraff; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were an infant son, Donald; two sisters and a brother.
Dorothy was a homemaker and had worked at the Jackson Center Hardware for many years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Jackson Center and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that enjoyed cooking and baking and made very good homemade noodles.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center, with the Rev. Kent Hollis officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Smith-Eichholtz Funeral Home in Jackson Center.
