Donaldson A. “Don” Daley, 93, of New Hampshire, passed away Thursday morning, Dec.22, 2011 at his home.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1918, in Davenport, Iowa, to the late Emma E. Richards and Bertram D. Daley. On Oct. 24, 1942, in Lima, he married the former Virginia B. Workman McPheron, and she preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, John C. (Lynn) Daley, of Highland, Calif., Judson D. (Joyce) Daley, of Lithia, Fla., and Bert A. (Kathy) Daley, of New Hampshire; a daughter, Helen E. Sieburg, of Wilmot, N.H.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lavarre “Buck” Daley, of Tallahassee, Fla.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Clark and Marie Townsend.
He was a 1936 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, flying missions over the Burma Hump from China. He was a farmer for most of his life. He was a member of the New Hampshire Lion’s Club, a former school board member for Waynesfield-Goshen Schools, and was very active with the Auglaize County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed his work, and being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services are at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 at Shoffstall Funeral Home in Lakeview, with the Rev. Jean Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in New Hampshire, with military rites performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Universal Home Health and Hospice Care in Bellefontaine or Mission Aviation Fellowship in Nampa, Idaho.
