Raymond L. Mowery, 82, of Westminster, died at 7:11 a.m. Nov. 20, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1929, in Allen County, to Evadna Tidd and Jesse F. Mowery, who have preceded him in death. On Sept. 7, 1951, in the Harrod Christian Church, he married Rose Mary Elsass by the Rev. Williard Thomas. She survives in Westminster.
Also surviving are two sons, David Mowery, of Lima, and Jay (Missy) Mowery, of Lima; two daughters, Susan (Dennis) Reynolds, of Harrod, and Kathy Jenkins, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla..; five grandchildren, Joseph (Tasha) Mowery, of Wapakoneta, Michael Mowery, of Lima, Matthew Reynolds, of Three Bridges, N.J., Kendra Reynolds, of Harrod, and Lacey Jenkins, of Palm Beach Garden, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Garyn, Brooklyn, and Joey; a brother, Donald (Hazel) Mowery, of Findlay; and two sisters, Betty (Everett) Rice, of Norwalk, and Patricia Moyer, of Waynesfield.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Shepherd Mowery; and a brother-in-law, Richard Moyer.
He was a 1947 graduate of the Auglaize Local High School in Harrod. He worked at Montgomery Ward in the repair service department until the Lima store closed and then worked at Rudolph Foods until retirement. Mr. Mowery enjoyed sports, especially watching the television sports programs.
Services are at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chiles - Laman Funeral & Cremation Services Eastside Chapel in Lima, the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
