A local tradition, filled with holiday cheer, will soon be underway in Wapakoneta.
The 13th annual Festival of Trees is set to be held from Nov. 16 through Nov. 20 at The Gardens at Wapakoneta.
The Festival of Trees is a silent auction of decorated Christmas Trees and other decor to raise funds for the organization’s hospice care.
“It has become like a tradition in the area,” Community Health Professionals Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator Niki Du Vall said. “I have people that start calling in August asking when the festival will be held.”
Businesses, organizations and individuals donate decorated items, including trees, wreaths and specialty items, to the festival. The items are then up for silent auction throughout the event.
“This is something people look forward to each year,” Du Vall said.
Du Vall said there currently are 75 items that have been donated for the festival to be auctioned off, and “they are right in line with last year.”
“We appreciate everyone’s generosity to go above and beyond,” Du Vall said.
She said with the way the economy is she appreciates all the donations that are received for the event.
All of the proceeds from the event goes to the visiting nurses and hospice program through the Community Health Professionals of Tri-County and all of the money raised will stay in the county.
The community can stop by The Gardens from 1 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 16 through Nov. 19 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 20, and will include refreshments, raffles and each day will include entertainment.
On Nov. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m., Santa Claus will be at the festival available to take pictures with the children, along with children’s crafts.
The deadline to sponsor a Christmas tree, wreath or centerpiece is Monday. Contact The Gardens 419-738-7430 for more information.
