Marilyn (Wieser) Timmons, 54, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:37 p.m. Sept. 19, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 2, 1957, in Lima, the daughter of Betty (Mumma) and Robert Wieser. Her mother survives in Lima.
Also surviving are a sister, Sharon (Mark) Carroll, of Bluffton; a niece, Brittany Carrol, of Troy; a nephew, Tyler Carroll, of Troy; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1974 and attended The Ohio State University and the University of Texas. She began her career in the staffing industry in 1988 working for Spherion in Lima. She spent several years as branch manager for Spherion in New Orleans before returning to the area in May 2005 as branch manager at the Lima location. She worked for over 20 years at Spherion as a direct hire recruiter and retired May 9, 2008. In 2008 she was named 2007 Top Direct Hire Recruiter for all Spherion franchises in the United States. She truly cared about the employees she placed and would coach them on work ethic and life skills. She was a mentor to both co-workers and employees. She was involved in many activities but her most heart-felt interest dealt with individuals affected by cancer and alzheimer’s-related illnesses.
She had countless true friends throughout the world who helped and cared for her. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music. She had a passion for conversing with friends and family.
Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Lima, with the Rev. David Ross officiating.
A Parish Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions may be given to the American Cancer Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
