Ned “Bud” Gaylord Burden III, 21, died at 8:25 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 9, 1989, in Bellefontaine, to Christina (Webb) and Ned Burden II. His father and stepmother Machelle survive in Sidney and his mother survives in Lakeview.
Other survivors include a brother, Glen Burden, of Lakeview; a sister, Sandi Burden, of Los Cruces, N.M.; a step brother, Benjamin Gates, of Sidney; a step sister, Chelsie Gates, of Sidney; a maternal grandfather, John (Terri) Webb, of Waynesfield; a fraternal grandfather, Dale (Marcia) Burden, of Wapakoneta; a fraternal great grandmother, Anna Belle Burden, of Wapakoneta; and step grandparents, Sara and Sherman Fleming, of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ezekial Burden; and grandmothers, Barbara Webb and Darlene Burden.
Ned had completed two years of college at The Ohio State University and was a 2008 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School where he played baseball and football. He had attended high school in Sidney for two years where he had played baseball, football and wrestled.
He was an exchange student in Germany and was an exchange student host. His favorite line was, “Cancer picked the wrong redneck!” Ned was a Christian and had helped on the farm when not in school.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Armentrout Funeral Home in Waynesfield. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery near New Hampshire.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
