KENTON — Wapakoneta posted a 4-3 win over Kenton in an ACME baseball game Tuesday night at Kenton despite a still-sluggish offense.
Brandon Schreiber was the only Wapak player with multiple hits. He went 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored, one RBI and two stolen bases.
Brandon Miller was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Chase Culver went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Dylan Knoch drew three walks, stole four bases and scored two runs.
Josh Carder, making his first start on the mound, pitched three innings, giving up three unearned runs. He struck out two, walked four and gave up one hit.
Chandler Kaeck picked up the win in relief. He pitched three innings with one strikeout and just two hits.
Miller came on in the seventh inning to shut the door and earn a save.
Defensively, Wapak committed four errors.
Coming on the heels of a meager three-hit effort Monday night against St. Henry, Wapak’s offensive struggles do not bode well heading into the heart of the ACME season.
Wapak and Kenton will turn right around and play again tonight at Wapakoneta High School.
On Thursday, Wapak will play at New Knoxville, a team it defeated 21-1 on June 7.
Despite the woes at the plate, Wapak remained undefeated on the season at 7-0.
