Paul J. Kabana, 73, of rural Lima, died at 11:28 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born March 11, 1938, in McKees Rocks, Pa., the son of Dorothy (McClellan) and Alexander Kabana, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 28, 1958, he married Dolores “Dee” Parisi, and she survives.
Other survivors are a son, Bert Kabana, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a daughter, Pamela (Brian) Jarrells of Mason; a granddaughter, Julia Jarrells; a brother, John (Mary) Kabana of Pennsylvania, and a sister, Gloria Kabana of Pittsburgh, Pa.
He retired in 2000 as an inspector at General Dynamics in Lima. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Wapakoneta. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Coraopolis Lodge 674, F. & A.M., Coraopolis, Pa., and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 691 in Wapakoneta. He was a ham radio operator and a member of the RARA Ham Radio Club in St. Marys. He was also a certified SCUBAdiver. A very patriotic man, he loved to give and donated to several organizations including the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed computers, electronics, music, performing magic, but most especially he loved spending time with his family.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita’s Hospice.
