Wapakoneta Redskins junior J.T. Martin is heading to the state wrestling tournament for the third time.
He will open the event against a wrestler making his first trip.
Martin will square off with Eaton freshman Michael May in the first round of the Division II 106-pound state tournament, which starts at 4:15 Thursday at Value City Arena on the campus of the Ohio State University.
Martin is coming off a third-place finish at the district tournament last weekend in Marion. He has a 37-6 record on the season.
May (31-11) finished second at the Goshen district.
The winner will face either Noah Jay (Whitehall-Yearling) or Ryan Bennett (Cuyahoga Falls CVCA) in the quarterfinals.
The 106-pound class is new for 2011-2012. It replaced the now defunct 103-pound class.
There are three returning state placers in the 16-man bracket.
Claymont sophomore Cody Burcher (35-5) was the state runner-up a year ago. He is the top seed out of the Claymont district.
Milan Edison junior Jude Michel (46-6) placed seventh at 103 pounds as a sophomore.
Michel defeated Martin in a 3-2 decision in the semifinals of the district tournament last weekend before falling to Graham freshman Eli Stickley in the championship bout.
Toledo Central Catholic junior Matt Pool took eighth at 103 pounds last year.
Martin defeated Pool in a 1-0 decision in the third-place match last weekend at the district tournament.
