William Yahl, 79

William R. “Bill” Yahl, 79, of Botkins, died at 4:17 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 17, 1932, in St. Marys, the son of Martha (Greve) and Joseph Yahl, who preceded him in death. On Jan. 5, 1957, he married Mary K. Brown, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mike (Teri) Yahl, of Fryburg, and Roy (Lisa) Yahl, of Lima; four daughters, Annie Yahl, of Wapakoneta, Ruth (John) Winters, of Tempe, Ariz., Katie (Ronald) Schipper, of Botkins, and Lisa (Scott) Aufderhaar, of Botkins,; 16 grandchildren, John Edward Winters, Michael Winters, Ryan Yahl, Kim Yahl, Aaron Schipper, Matt Schipper, Joe Schipper, Seth Aufderhaar, Ben Aufderhaar, Lily Aufderhaar, Logan Aufderhaar, Cole Aufderhaar, Nick Bailey, Josh Yahl, Jacob Yahl, and Maddi Yahl; three brothers, Bob (Pat) Yahl, Joe (Connie) Yahl, and Gene (Janice) Yahl; and three sisters, Sister Rita Yahl, C.PP.S., Clara Lenhart, and Rose Braun.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abigail Aufderhaar; two brothers, Jerome Yahl and Tony Yahl; and three sisters, Irene Doseck, Mary Brown, and Emma Clements.
Bill retired from Brown Industrial in Botkins. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP in Korea. His hobbies included playing cards, fishing, hunting camping, painting, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins, with the Rev. Harold Brown, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Botkins.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Long and Folk Chapel, 13 South Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta.
