William H. “Bill” Hutt, 94, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Wapakoneta, to Hazel C. (Vorhees) and John J. Hutt, who preceded him in death. On March 3, 1939, he married Agnes R. Kuck, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sharon A. (Lewis) Knoch, of Wapakoneta; four grandchildren, Kristine (John Chesbrough) Kah, of North Port, Fla., Lori (Rick) Koenig, of Wapakoneta, Joshua (Karen) Hutt, of Wapakoneta, and Shana (Travis) Samons, of Murrieta, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren Darcy (Mike Gee) West, Holly Koening, Kyle Koenig, Riley Hutt, Avery Hutt, Lincoln Hutt, Sadie Samons, and Sway Samons; and a daughter-in-law, Shelia Hutt, of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Hutt.
Bill retired from Westinghouse in Lima after 37 years of service as a foreman. In the 1950s he created and developed the William H. Hutt Subdivision which is on Washington St. between Ohio and Buchanan Streets. He was known as a great carpenter who enjoyed remodeling homes. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Navy as a mechanic. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8445 and a 60 year member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Wapakoneta.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Becky Sunday officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta with military rites being performed by V.F.W. Post 8445.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
