May 30, 2012

Jacob Will, of Wapakoneta Troop 4, received recognition for completing his Eagle Scout project.

Wapakoneta Boy Scout Jacob Will of Wapakoneta Troop 4 received recognition Tuesday for completing his Eagle Scout project at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Faith Center.

For his project, Will wired the entire Faith Center for internet access. The building, which was remodeled in 1999, was originally built in 1900.

“I got a lot of pride from doing this project,” Will said. “I think it earned me faith from the community and from the St. Joe community that I can do a big project and get things done.”

The son of Barb and Curt Will of Wapakoneta, is 15 and will be a freshman at Botkins High School.

Needless to say, he is approaching his Eagle Scout award at a rapid

pace. He has one merit badge to complete in personal management. Other than that he is awaiting the review of his project to be honored as an Eagle Scout.

Will spent approximately six months collecting the $2,640 from businesses and private individuals to complete the project.

Will, who has been involved with Scouts for five years, spent an entire day wiring the Faith Center. His scout leader is Fred Lord.

Will said he selected the project because of potential career interest.

“When I graduate, I would like to work in a related field,” Will said.
