Wilbur Schweitzer, 91

Wilbur J. Schweitzer, 91, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:02 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born July 10, 1921, in Auglaize County, the son of Clara (Frankenburg) and Frank Schweitzer, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 5, 1947, he married Eulalia M. Wachauf, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Robert) Prueter, of New Knoxville; a son, Ronald (Lynn) Schweitzer, of Wapakoneta; and four grandchildren, Mark Prueter, Sarah Schweitzer, Ann Schweitzer, and Nathaniel Schweitzer.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Richard Schweitzer, Alfred Schweitzer, Fr. Leander Schweitzer, Victor Schweitzer, Hilda Koenig, and twin infant sisters.
A lifelong farmer, Wilbur retired from Auglaize Farmers in Uniopolis after 26 years. He was a lifelong member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine. A World War II veteran with the U.S. Army Air Force, he was a member of the American Legion Post 330 in Wapakoneta. His hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, woodworking, and gardening.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine, with the Rev. Daniel Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Fryburg.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Long & Folk Chapel, 13 South Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta.
