Maddi Springer and Elizabeth Sidener, at left, show off the Girl Scout Troop 20721 Christmas tree called “We’ve Got Spirit” which was sold during the Festival of Trees at The Gardens at Wapakoneta.
A white tree decorated with Wapakoneta Redskin logos attracts a large bid right from the beginning and the members of Girl Scout Troop 20721 could not be more excited.
The bids does not excite them, it is the fact their tree entitled — “We’ve Got Spirit” — will help people.
“We decorated it with hair bows, necklaces and bobby pins all in Redskin colors,” Elizabeth Sidener said. “We did it to support the Wapakoneta Redskins and to help raise money for the Tri-County Visiting Nurses program.”
The 7-year-old girl said 10 members of the troop came Saturday to look at all the trees and to catch one more look a their look at their own creation.
The daughter of Joanne and Matthew Sidener explained the troop members decorated the hair bows and bobby pins and made the necklaces and the girls had help from their leaders putting them on the tree.
“I think our tree looks awesome,” Maddi Springer said as the girls took a break in a dining area at The Gardens at Wapakoneta where the annual Festival of Trees is held each November.
