Waynesfield mulls axing administrator position

March 25, 2014

WAYNESFIELD — In front of a standing-room-only crowd, several Waynesfield residents spoke to the village council about their desire to keep Fred Rowe as village administrator during a meeting Monday night.

The duties of the current village administrator had previously been handled by a board of public affairs, which was abolished in 2007. The board was made up of three Waynesfield residents who were voted into their positions.

“In my opinion, if you go back to the board of public affairs, it’s part-time people, so it’s hard to contact them and things are gonna fall through the cracks,” Waynesfield resident Barb Earle said, addressing members of the council.
“I think it’s more efficient to have someone here Monday through Friday that you can get a hold of,” she said.
